The area
Nxai Pan combines open wildlife viewing with one of Botswana’s most recognisable landscapes. When summer rain greens the fossil pans, zebra and springbok gather beneath immense skies.
December to March for green landscapes, zebra and newborn game. The dry season offers clear sightings around permanent water.
The wildlife
Zebra, springbok, giraffe, elephant and wildebeest use the pans, followed by lion, cheetah and jackal. Waterholes become important gathering points.
